Abby's mind raced to figure out what to do. She wasn't the

aggressive girl that asked a guy out, or made the first move, and she

felt like she may have offended Trent by not leaning in for the kiss. A

part of her wanted to slam the door shut, throw herself into Trent's

arms and taste his full lips. She longed to feel his hard body pressed

against hers.

"Careful on the step." Trent guiding her into the jeep with a soft

touch.

Abby placed a hand on the edge of the door, and was about to step

back out of the jeep and make the first move, when she noticed the

headlights from another vehicle approaching.

Trent closed the door and moved to the front of the jeep, standing

up tall. "Stay in the jeep, Abby."

Trent puffed out his broad chest, his hands clenching into fists at

his sides.

Abby sat down and watched Trent move in front of the jeep. The

uncertainty that approached from the other direction frightened her.

She remembered reading an article about foreigners being kidnapped

for ransom in countries like Cuba, and the adrenaline of fear started

coursing through her veins. Trent was a prominent doctor from a

wealthy family back in America; just the type of kidnap victim

guerillas salivated over.

"You stay in the car no matter what happens," Trent's voice

remained calm considering the situation.

The way he talked put Abby at ease for the moment. If Trent was

calm, than there mustn't be anything to worry about; but still Abby's

heart thundered in her chest.

The approaching vehicle drew nearer. Neither Trent nor Abby

could see it yet, but the lights reflecting off the jungle ahead told them

it was close. Finally, a jeep appeared from around the trees; the lights

blinding Abby when they became visible. The jeep slowed and

stopped in the middle of the road. A man in the back seat stood up

and shone a bright spotlight over Trent's.

"Who's there?"
